religion vs the lottery
I was just thinking, a lot of people "pick" their religion. and they each believe "they" have the right one...but they can't (and don't) know, and that's why it's called faith.
Now, you can also go down to the gas station and "pick" your powerball numbers, believing they are the right ones, but you can't (and don't) know that either.
So what's the difference?
Well, if I play the lottery, and I lose, I can choose to play again the next week. If I win, I have an easy life.
If I play the lottery with my religion and I'm wrong, I get to "burn in hell for eternity". If I win, I "have an easy (after)life".
The difference is, playing and losing the lottery sucks, but it's ok. I can choose to play again or not. I get more than one try. You only get to pick your religion once...that is, you can change it as many times as you want during your life, but when you die you're stuck w/the last one you picked.
That's kinda final, and not really a fun game. So I choose not to play that game. I don't like having to make a single, all-or-nothing choice. I choose to not pick. And yes, that's a valid option, so fuck off before you start saying it's not. (when you flip a coin, there are 3 possible results:heads, tails, or nothing, because you chose not to flip at all)
Maybe if I knew the right answer, it'd be more fun...I guess that's what the two have in common...
And to be honest, I don't care what happens when/after I'm dead. The 2 are completely different (that we, in this life, know), so it doesn't matter. You don't just go out and buy a gas mask because you think your gonna get gassed tomorrow. tomorrow comes and goes, and you're still here with your worthless gasmask. so I say fuck it. I don't need to worry about the shit that has NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on this lifetime.
